Department of Military topography using maps in scale 1:25000 in years 1931-1932 prepared and published maps in scale 1:5000. These maps were prepared by enlarging maps in scale 1:25000. Sheets of maps in scale 1:5000 have grid every 500 meters. Squares are numbered by letters and numbers (see example).

Map in scale 1:5000 covers territory about 12 sq.km (4x3 km). Sheet dimensions - 96x70cm. Every sheet was prepared from fragments of 1-4 maps in scale 1:25000 and was numbered by tree numeral number (See index sheet).

It was prepared 17 and published 16 maps in scale 1:5000 on territory of central Lithuania.
